What is a typical day on the College Tour?

College Pay It Forward Tours are 9 days long, with service projects in 6 cities. Buses leave from the University of Minnesota campus and travel to 5 different cities on the way to your destination city, a different city and service project each day. The destination or celebration cities are San Antonio, TX and Atlanta, GA. The celebration city is the first time that buses unite, with chapters from across the country coming together to do a large service project. It is amazing to see hundreds of young people in the same color shirt doing one massive, joint service project. A standard day includes:

  • Service Project in the Morning
  • Lunch with the Community Served
  • Bus Travel in the Afternoon to Next City
  • Potential Tourism in City
  • Evening Activities and Reflection
  • Spend the Night (with the exception of the celebration city which are spent in a hotel, participants sleep in gyms, community centers, churches, etc)

How do I choose which bus to sign up for?

We send out two different types of Tours. Mystery buses, on which participants only know what city they will be ending in and not how they are getting there. Classic buses, on which participants know which five cities they will be stopping in as well as where they will be ending. Each of the Tours has a theme that the bus leaders – the bus core – have chosen. The six routes are the following:
