The Founders of STLF in front of the first ever Pay It Forward Tour Bus

The University of Minnesota has a proud STLF history. On September 18th, 2003 four University of Minnesota freshman decided to send out the first ever Pay It Forward Tour creating a group called Students Today Leaders Forever. But they did not do this alone. Advised by Jerry Rinehart and aided by the University of Minnesota YMCA, they were able to become a registered student organization, recruit 43 others to take part in this experience, and actually travel to Washington DC participating in service projects and leadership activities. Believing and trusting in their participants and the core model that they invented, they let them lead, organize, finance, and recruit three Tours the next year. This led to the establishment of the first ever independent bus cores and chapter core. While still in college, these students were able to begin sending out high school trips, helping other colleges send out their first Tours, and incorporate into a successful nonprofit.

Outside of Pay It Forward Tours they and other cores that they developed where able to partner with student groups including MSA and CBS Student Board to put on campus events that have since won the chapter three Tony Diggs Excellence Awards. A tradition that continues to this day.
