My Story - Danielle, MSUM

Written by: Danielle

When I joined STLF this past fall as a freshman at MSUM, I was told by numerous people that going on the Pay It Forward tour would forever change my life. I knew it would probably be a humbling experience, but wasn't sure it would have that much of an impact on me.

I was in no way prepared for how right all of those people were — coming on the PIF has changed my life in a big way. The rewards of volunteering are too great not to get involved. The feeling I got after helping people and giving back to different communities along the way to Washington DC cannot be explained — this is one thing that everyone needs to experience.

I never dreamed that college students could make such an impact, but the gratitude our bus was shown after completing service was very humbling and opened my eyes to the possibilities out there. Students can make a difference. Taking part in the service my bus completed and witnessing the growth of everyone who participated in the tour has inspired me to be a leader in both STLF and in other aspects of my life.

The relationships I built with others on my bus are amazing. Who would have thought that after a week on a bus I would return to school with 34 new best friends? The time for reflection each night gave us a chance to cultivate strong friendships, and also grow as individuals.

It was a surreal experience. The 2012 Pay It Forward tour was my first, but it will definitely not be my last. I can't wait to continue paying it forward.

congress auhiertzos wars' ! details ! budgets should balance ! Huh !Is there any ryhme or reason to your silliness.Under the phony banner of no free lunch' that you preen under like a cocky rooster , somewhere , sometime you have to look in a mirror and see that you are in world based in illusion . Congress auhiertzos wars , but the fact that congress at the time was dominated entirely by the republicans and the blueprint for the war was based mostly on fiction and fear , are some of the DETAILS you have no interest in. I clearly remember the war mongering claims the right made in the first years and very little of it came to fruition. Without going into the details which would take pages and pages and which kev would ignore anyway, lets just settle on supercilious banner that kev anchors his reputation to . As Mr No Free Lunch' we have to ask why he has been living under that hollow phrase during the entirety of the war while never contributing a cent or anything in terms of sacrifice to that effort. HIS side of the aisle , which he never has bitched about , has run up a trillion $ debt , without any thought or plan, about paying for it! Simply put ,we are well within reason to tell Kev , he has been living the past 10 years under the banner of freedom , Time to pay up free luncher. Freedom ain't free!
