My Story - Barbara

Here we share with you a thank you note that was sent to the STLF office from a service project host in St. Louis, MO.

I just wanted to write a note to say how grateful I was for all of the help provided to my neighborhood.  It was a remarkable day during which I several times found myself overwhelmed with emotion.  The world is due for a change and I think your group is helping that along.

I received the thank-you note from STLF and had to laugh.  Your group, thanking ME!  That was a little backwards and also appreciated.  Just after that I received a note from one of my neighbors.  I didn’t know her, still only know her first name, and her note made me cry.  In her handwritten note she says...”I wanted to say thank you for the neighborhood clean-up... I’m sorry I couldn’t help, I would have loved to, however, I’m old and handicapped now.  ...This area was beautiful when we moved in – now I feel that no one cares what it looks like.  That’s why it is so wonderful to see what you are trying to do.”  Please pass this along to your group as it is they who need to know how they touched someone with their generosity and caring.
