The Big Lift!
One month ago, 36 students departed on an eight day adventure to travel and serve in six cities across their country in eight days. These students were from Sydney, those six cities were in Australia, and it wasn't an STLF program at all, but it was a brand new program called The Big Lift!

Serving and Learning Outdoors
To find an organization that could organize a service learning project for hundreds and have the capacity and the tools to carry it out seemed unlikely. Prior to that Tour over 2 years ago though, we stumbled across an incredible organization: the Forest Preserve District of Cook County.
Thanks for Giving to the Max!
And now, here I am, at 1:41 A.M. still not sleeping. I've been inspired by the power of giving. For philanthropy as a whole, an unprecedented $13 million+ was donated to Minnesota nonprofits online yesterday. For STLF, raising $16,000 in one day is a huge deal...

It's Tour Time!
Eight buses of students from North Dakota took part in High School Pay It Forward Tours last week. They traveled to Chicago and volunteered in 25 cities in five days! Check out this video from the Fargo Chamber Tours in August to get a better idea of what these Tours are all about!
United Way Giving
One thing that many are unaware of though, is the ability to designate your United Way gift to any charity of your choosing. Even though STLF is not formally a United Way agency, you can still designate your gift by writing in STLF on your gift form.
The wheels on the bus...
This week marks a special time for STLF as eight Tours are taking to the road from all over Minnesota. Over 26 Minnesota High Schools will be represented as over 260 young people begin to contribute over 6,000 hours of direct service to our nation...
And they're off!
While all of us here at STLF are incredibly passionate and committed to our work, we all recognize the importance of other hobbies and passions in our lives. Its safe to say we are all pretty passionate people in general, so often times these "hobbies" become a big part of our lives.
