New STLF Website!
STLF's gets a 24 Hour Website Overhaul. Thanks to the Overnight Website Challenge and Team Pollywog Stew for making it happen!
The Early Days...yup, those were the days...
As many avid followers of STLF know, our website has been an integral part of the organization, prividing updates, community, and information for all users of cyber space. Each feature becoming more technologically difficult as Brian turned the pages in Dreamweaver for Dummies guide, or Irene used the index to find something that sounded cool and added that. We will all remember the day when Brian discovered how to have 'snow' falling over our homepage as a festive winter suprise, or the time when he embeded tetris and duck hunt into the site to help build a 'community of fun' for all users. Before Facebook was huge we had our own sweet STLF Chat message board to stay in touch with, and we all had fond memories of the flash photo player that did not always work.
Our site was not perfect, but it has always been there for us. Eventually STLF grew too much for our small staff to meet the demands of technology, and we began the search for a new and creative way to get a much-needed new website. So it turns out STLF was not the only nonprofit in this situation...
Overnight Website Challenge to the Rescue.
Then we learned about the "Overnight Website Challenge!!!". This was the answer to our needs, now we just needed to win the competition. Luckly we had the support of previous STLF participants to post testiomonials that helped us be chosen as one of 12 nonprofits to receive a new website.
The Big Event!
Starting at 8am on Sat. Feb. 28 - 10:30am on March 1st we had a group of 10 gurus of the cyberworld listening to our ideas and taking them beyond what we thought possible. They totally revamped our website, became sleep deprived, played crazy games, and unknowningly experienced their own taste of the PIF Tour. They become instant supporters of our group and helped us to create a site which will serve our needs for years to come. We owe each and everyone of them a HUGE YEAH BUDDY for their work and belief in our organization. To each of you, we can't thank you enough, and thousands of young people will truly forever be grateful. To read more about the Overnight Website Challenge click here
