Summer Jobs for High School Students

The Forest Preserves of Cook County are Offering Great Summer Jobs for High School Students.

Each October and June, STLF has sent hundreds of students to volunteer with the Forest Preserves of Cook County.  If you have been on a High School Tour to Chicago, you have probably volunteered there.  

This summer they are offering great jobs in the Preserves this summer for high school students ages 15-18.  Here is some more information and how to learn more:

CHICAGO CONSERVATION LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

June 28 – August 6, 2010

Friends of the Forest Preserves and the Student Conservation Association are seeking dedicated and hard working high school students (ages 15-18) to join a conservation crew to help the Forest Preserves of Cook County this summer.  Students work on assignments such as invasive plant removal, native gardening at nature centers, and trail building. Students are led by two adult leaders who will provide environmental education activities to help develop conservation and community leaders.  Students will receive a stipend of $1,925 for successfully completing the entire six week program.

SEEKING APPLICANTS WHO HAVE:

  • Plenty of enthusiasm   
  • Leadership qualities
  • A good attitude
  • A strong interest in nature
  • A willingness to get dirty and work hard outdoors

LOCATIONS
Crews will work at the following locations:  Sand Ridge Nature Center (South Holland), Camp Sagawau Environmental Learning Center (Lemont), and River Trail Nature Center (Northbrook).  Additional crew locations will be announced soon.
